San Francisco
Date Established: June 1960
Propagation efforts started in San Francisco back in 1955 by a couple that relocated to SF from Japan. They first introduced PL to their co-workers and the people they met at their language school. They also offered their house to be used as a gathering place, and membership started to grow. Shortly after, a minster was officially assigned to take care of the members in San Francisco. After moving locations several times, the current building on Merced Ave. was purchased in September of 1974 and continues to service the members in the area.
Church Activities: “PL Thanksgiving Service” held on the 21st of every month, Sunday Services, other church services and ceremonies (please see link for detailed schedule and information), Mother’s Day and Father’s Day events, beautification activities in the communities surrounding the church, garage sales, among other activities. Members also take part in the Annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival every year.
